Isaac Mayende

Isaac is a bright, resourceful eleven year old, who has lived a hard life on the streets. He was so small that an older boy took “care” of him, teaching him street smarts for survival. They moved around together as a team to find food, drugs, sleeping places, beg money and finally found themselves in Tororo. The older Isaac grew, the more morally offensive behavior was learned. By six he was well-seasoned and self-sufficient. A begging encounter with a white lady in 2003 gave him and one of his friends a home at ACTS for Messiah's Child Care Program. Today he is healthy, clear-eyed, doing well in school, has been united with members of his family and has embraced his Messiah as his Lord, while, his family (Karmonjong Tribe) continue to struggle...starving, alcoholic. His grandmother died last month and they had no money. Emily was called by the head man to help get her to the hospital. Emily provided sheets, basin, transportation etc. There she died and laid there in the hospital with 30 live patients until Emily was informed the next day to claim the body and pay for the burial. Isaac is in Primary #5 this year and doing well. Thanks to ACTS for Messiah, Isaac has a home and a future.
