John Omongin

John is a sweet, helpful, obedient boy who helps out with the cooking, cleaning, and marketing. He has only been to school since 2003 (at 14 yrs.) when he started Primary #3 and is now in Primary #5. His schooling is critical to his survival. He came from an illiterate, unbelievably poor family. His father died when he was about four: his mother poor and sick couldn’t provide for her five children, so John and the others were eating out of the garbage or begging leftovers from others. John was on the streets until he was fourteen, surviving by begging, stealing, cheating. He became a leader to other street kids, devising schemes and tricks for their survival. ACTS for Messiah convinced John and two of his recruits (Peter and Isaac) to join the organization under the Child Care Ministry in 2003 and they were put into school. This gave him hope for the future, the necessities of life, and a love of and hope in his Messiah. He loves gospel music, plays keyboard, is in good health and is out of the slum mentality. Praise God!
